How To Apply

Please read the guidelines carefully before deciding whether to approach the Foundation for funding. If you would like to discuss a potential proposal with us prior to completing an application, please contact us by telephone. Alternatively, you can submit a brief summary of the project and budget by letter. Please see Contact page for address details. Please note that the Foundation accepts no liability for any costs incurred in preparing an application.

How much to request

A reasonable request might be related to the forecast impact of the grant, specific items in the budget, or levels of support from other funders. Please note that grants will not normally cover the entire cost of a project, and the Foundation typically invests when the majority of required funding has been raised from other sources.

Application procedure

1. Please complete and sign a proposal summary form (download here). This serves as an overview only. Please do not exceed the spaces provided. The form should be signed by the Chief Executive or a Director of the organisation.

2. Please prepare a separate document which outlines the rationale for your funding request. Please specifically address the following:

  • The Organisation:
    • a brief history and key achievements
    • an overview of the forward strategy and key objectives.
  • The project:
  • an indication and evidence of the need for the project that requires funding
  • an outline of the proposed project, and how it fits into the wider strategic plan
  • the project’s objectives and forecast outcomes
  • an indication of how the project’s success will be monitored and evaluated
  • an implementation plan/timeline
  • an itemised budget
  • the fundraising plan, including a list of other actual/potential funders and the status of each request
  • an indication of what a grant would allow your organisation to achieve, and how a grant will change or improve the long-term potential and sustainability of your organisation.

3. Please also supply the following supplementary documentation:

  • a list of the directors and trustees with their backgrounds
  • the most recently audited annual financial statements
  • the most recent monthly management accounts.

4. Please post all the above documentation to:

Review Process

There are no deadlines for submitting grant proposals. The Foundation reviews applications on a year-round, rolling basis.

All applications will normally receive an acknowledgement on receipt and an initial response within three months. Foundation staff may request additional information or a site visit to better familiarise themselves with the organisation, its management team and the project. The Foundation will initiate all requests for meetings or visits.

Due to the volume of requests and our thorough due diligence process, grant decisions can take time. We suggest that applicants factor six months into their overall funding and project plans.

Thank you for your interest in the Fidelity UK Foundation. We look forward to learning about your organisation and funding proposal.
